Kat Doucette
Certified Kripalu yoga teacher.
RYT-200

Kathleen (Kat) Doucette is a Kripalu Tradition yoga teacher, her certification was earned at Discovery Yoga in St. Augustine in August 2009.  She currently teaches a multi-level yoga practice at Grand Haven in Palm Coast, FL. for residents and she developed and teaches the 8 week Chair Yoga program at Plantation Bay, Ormond Beach, FL.

In August 2009 Kat was having lunch with some friends catching up after her absence from “the Bay” created by her 6 week long residential yoga teacher training in St. Augustine and answering their questions about “how she spent her summer vacation”.    One of her friends commented that she was lucky that she could do yoga and that not everyone could get up and down off the floor so easily.  Later at home she thought about what the friend had said and decided to accept the challenge to create a yoga class to allow people with limited mobility to enjoy the benefits of yoga, “ a yoga class for the rest of us”.

Kat used her Kripalu training as background and researched and studied the teachings of Lakshmi Voelker originator of “Chair Yoga”, and Chair & Standing Yoga “Ageless Yoga” with John Schlorholtz, Principal Instructor at Harvard University Center for Wellness.   Resources also drawn from and used in the research and incorporation to create this program include the teachings of:  “Yoga for the Rest of Us” with Peggy Cappy  “AM & PM Yoga” with Lilias“Qigong  for Stress Relief “ with Francesco Garripoli & Daisy Lee-Garripoli  The first offering of this program was a 6 week “pilot program” with a minimum requirement of 8 students, or no program.

In October 2009 a surprising 18 members kicked off the Chair Yoga program at the Plantation Bay Health and Fitness Center in Ormond Beach, FL. The Chair Yoga program for 2010 has grown to include a second weekly class, and has been increased from a 6 week program to an 8 week ongoing progressive program for Plantation Bay residents.   Kat also provides personal one-on-one yoga classes/practices to individuals.   Her inspiration is to help everyone experience the joy of yoga and the feeling of peace that comes with being able to improve our health with body, mind and spirit.

BACKGROUND: Prior to her current position, Kat was retired from (FAA) Federal Aviation Administration in Washington, DC in December 2004.

Prior to her FAA career Kat owned and operated a successful business in Virginia for 12 years.

Kat lived in southern Maryland with her husband Chuck; they have four daughters and 14 grandchildren.  Kat currently lives at Plantation Bay in Ormond Beach with her husband Chuck, and her two cats Lily and Smokee.

Kat continually practices yoga since moving to Florida in 2005 with various yoga teachers, some of them are:  Debbie Vinyard, Karyn Parks, Aradhika Webber, Christopher Baxter, Teri Daggett, and Preete. Kat currently practices yoga at Padma Yoga with Micki Higgins, Plantation Bay Health & Fitness Center with Linda Soleil and Discovery Yoga with Deva Parnell and other DY teachers.

I am surprised by where my life’s journey has brought me.  I am honored to be given the opportunity to share the gifts and blessings of yoga that I have so generously received, with those who are seeking the joy of the yoga journey”.  My wish for you……blessings& bliss.   Namaste’, Kat

Beverly Chandler
Certified Kripalu yoga
teacher
RYT - 200

Beverly Chandler is a Kripalu Tradition yoga instructor who earned her certification at Discovery Yoga in St. Augustine, Florida.  Although Beverly practiced yoga on and off during the past ten years, she remained steadfast and consistent in her lifelong interest in health, nutrition and spiritual wellness; and generously shared her knowledge and skill with others during her journey. But it was her discovery of Kripalu yoga and subsequent teacher training in the discipline, where Beverly found her true "home" a practice that nourishes her mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Her great passion is when she works with seniors who want to do more with their bodies;  the expression on their faces when they realize they can move more freely without pain brings Beverly a joy beyond compare.

"Thrilled and honored to join the Padma Yoga family," Beverly hopes to bring these possibilities to her students

Fred Welter
Raja Yoga
also
Meditation
Foot reflexology.

Practicing and teaching since 1975.

Fred first became interested in yoga at the age of 31 while watching Lilias Folan in her PBS series, "Lilias! Yoga and You" shown in 1975.  That was rapidly followed by a personal practice blended from her televised example and the third section of a book, "Remember, Be Here Now" describing various techniques for yoga, pranayama, and meditation.

Bumping into yoga at this time was sort of a "next step" in a lifetime of spiritual pursuit beginning at about age 8 while looking at the stars and wondering "Why are we here?"  That question along with, "Is the speed of light a constant" and "What are the limits of the universe" became core questions for the next 30 or so years.  His present interest is understanding the interconnectedness of science and spirituality; a concept recently made accessible and popular by the movie, "What the (bleep) Do We Know".

Educated as a scientist/engineer to help win the race to the moon, Fred started work in 1966 on the Apollo Program for The Boeing Company and retired last year from Lockheed Martin's contract to modernize our nation's launch range.  Since his life goal was and is to walk a balance between the worlds of science and spirituality his years from 1969 to 1975 were spent in the study and practice of "Mind Travel" (a guided meditation technique of Rosicrucian and Masonic origin), Transcendental Meditation, and Astrology.

Moving from Cocoa Beach, Florida to Columbus, Ohio and various other locations needed to retain employment as an engineer brought him into contact with the 3HO Organization and the Yogi Bhajan style of Kundalini Yoga as taught by the Sikhs in Ashrams of Columbus, Ohio; Phoenix, Arizona; and Altamonte Springs, Florida; including a special workshop on White Tantric Yoga taught by Yogi Bhajan himself in Atlanta, Georgia in 1985.

The sikhs taught foot reflexology and massage as a complement to their yoga practice.  Limited to working on friends and family, Fred became a certified Reflexologist at the request of a DeLand, Florida chiropractor who had patients in Cassadaga requesting that service.  This relationship provided an exposure to Psychic Mediumship from 1979 to 1984.  During this same time frame Fred taught yoga for the Daytona Beach Community College Adjunct Campus in DeLand.  From 1987 to 1991 Fred taught yoga at the Flagler Fitness Center in Palm Coast.

Father of seven children, putting them through college, and grandfather of 13 grandchildren (changing diapers as this is being written) and driving to Patrick Air Force Base for the last ten years; not much yoga was happening in Fred's life until Micki Higgins found him struggling in the back of a Fitness One class this April, 2010.
